November 7, 2002 - Funny how time flies when you're too busy to update the What's New page! The site, as a whole, has received several substantial changes since I last wrote here. The Webrings page has been retired, as I had not received a single hit as a result of someone happening upon my site by this method. That allowed space for a new button at the top of the page. As you can see, it is a link to a page where I am offering many Clan Anderson graphics for download - all in a variety of file formats. Judging by the number of individual emails I had received requesting graphics, I thought it might be beneficial to make everything available from the web site. I am pleased to report that this new section has been very popular.
Oh, and I just replaced ALL the code for the "The Top Scottish Sites" link on the bottom of each page... again. I really wish the list would stay put! And I wish they'd hire someone to design a decent looking banner (this one is absolutely painful to look at.)
February 8, 2001 - I have finally figured out why my "The Top Scottish Sites" links have not been working. As it turns out, the whole list was removed and apparently started over from scratch. (I have to add that this was done without prior notification.) Today I registered again and because very few of the top Scottish sites have re-listed, I am currently holding down a very high position on the list! That means I am able to display my site's banner graphic in my listing. Perhaps that will give me an advantage and allow me to remain near the top for a while.
November 23 , 2000 - I am very pleased to announce that my Lowlandz's Clan Anderson Site has earned "Nancy's Celtic Award 2000". It is now proudly displayed on my Accolades page. Thank you very much, Nancy!
August 2, 2000 - After much searching through mountains of code, I finally found the cause of the horizontal scroll bar on all many of my content frames. Turns out it was the size of the "Top 100 Scottish Sites" graphic at the bottom of the pages. I reduced the size by 4 pixels and presto... no more scroll bar!
July 4, 2000 - I am extremely pleased to say that my site has earned the Clan MacNeil in Canada Webpage Excellence Award. This honour is especially sweet considering the strict criteria required to earn this award. It is now proudly displayed on my Accolades page. Many thanks, Charles!
June 10, 2000 - My Accolades page is now home to the Druid Princess Scottish Crown Jewels Award for Excellence. I must say that this is one of the nicest looking awards I have seen. Thank you very much, Liz!
June 7, 2000 - After much surfing, I have decided to give out my own awards for excellence on the web. The Thimble Awards page is now up and running, and I am looking forward to handing out gold, silver and bronze awards to deserving sites.
June 6, 2000 - Thanks to some very good advice from Ilona, I have made major changes to the Header tags in all my HTML pages. The changes prevents my content pages from loading without the frameset HTML. This opens the door to adding content specific META tags to each page.
June 1 , 2000 - Lowlandz's Clan Anderson Site has finally been spidered by Yahoo! and much to my delight, I'm first or second in all related search strings! Yippee! (I mean Yahoo!)
May 31, 2000 - Earlier this week, I received an email about my web site's navigation. After reading it through a couple of times, I realized that my site indeed needed a bit of tweaking. In particular, I have made changes to the Home Page that clear up some possible navigation uncertainties. Thanks for taking the time to write, Tony.
May 13, 2000 - After much soul-searching, I have decided to edit a few pages in the News from the Lowlandz section. In particular, I have changed some info on the Your Host page and on Von's page. The revisions more accurately describe how I feel about my past. I feel better now.
May 13, 2000 - Well, my mother is now on-line and is reading my journal entries! I guess I'd better not write anything bad about her. At any rate, I think she is enjoying the time she spends surfin' the Internet. Have fun, Mom!
May 8, 2000 - As you may have seen on my home page, I have decided to have my site rated at RSAC. This states that my Lowlandz's Clan Anderson Site is safe for all ages. I initially thought this might make me feel somewhat limited (especially in my journal writing), but I actually feel pretty good about it. I don't usually swear too much in my everyday conversations, so I doubt if I'll ever feel the need to do so here.
May 5, 2000 - My Accolades page has now grown to include the Scottish Names Research Award of Excellence. Thanks Peter!
May 2, 2000 - Today I received the NICEST email from a lady named Ilona (a link to her site is now on my Links Page). She had found my site listed as a Celtic Thistle award winner and much to my delight, took the time to write a wonderful letter to say she liked my web site (especially my Christian content).
April 18 , 2000 - My journal, The Low Down, now has an E-Groups email notification list. Please feel free to join the list if you'd like to receive an email notice that a journal entry has been made. Thank you Highlands for your time and effort in getting this put in place for me.
April 11 , 2000 - My Accolades page is now home to the Celtic Thistle Award. This is a special award for me as only four are presented each month. Thanks William!
April 9 , 2000 - I have joined another Webring - The Proudly Canadian Webring. These fine folks got me wired into the ring in only two days. I also listed my site in their directory of Canadian Genealogy sites.
April 5 , 2000 - Today, Lowlandz's Clan Anderson Site was awarded the Clan MacFarlane Celtic Soul Award. I am very pleased to display this award on my Accolades page. Thanks Jim!
April 3 , 2000 - After a great deal of research, I have decided to join my first Webring - Scottish Clan Names. It seems to be a good match for my site, plus it has over 175 members. I still have to wait for the ring navigation to be initiated.
March 27, 2000 - I have finally made my first journal entry. I guess the real journey begins now. Deep breath.
March 26, 2000 -Taking a cue from my good friend Shannon's web site, and have added a "Proudly Canadian" page. A link has been added to the left-hand frame of each page. With any luck at all, I'll finish the content for this page in the next couple of days.
March 25, 2000 - As a result of some much appreciated constructive criticism, I have changed the location of the Hitbox button on my home page.
March 24, 2000 - got my very first search engine hit! Alta Vista - search term was "Anderson Tartan". Hitbox is SO great!
March 24, 2000 - Added the Webrings page to my site. Also added the gold ring button to the top of each page to facilitate navigation for my future webring visitors.
March 24, 2000 - Added the Accolades page to my site.
March 21, 2000 - Lowlandz's Clan Anderson site has moved to number 120 on the Top 100 Scottish Sites List. I am honoured to receive my first award for my little site! Thanks Scotty!
March 20, 2000 - I get my first real hits as a result of referrals from the Top 100 Scottish Sites List. This is exciting!
